Gingrich: 'Recount-Mania' Shows 'Collapse of Dem Party as Realistic Institution'
Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich criticized 2016 Green Party
presidential candidate Dr. Jill Stein's recount efforts in Wisconsin,
Pennsylvania and Michigan.
"I think the recount-mania is
one more example of the collapse of the Democratic Party as a realistic
institution," Gingrich said.
Gingrich said he would not be
surprised if claims of Russian, or even Martian manipulation of election
results would arise in the future.
"You're seeing the nutty wing of
the Democratic Party begin to take over," Gingrich said, also noting the
mentioning of Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.) as a possibility to become the next
DNC chairman.
He also commented on President-elect
Donald Trump meeting with a former critic of his presidential bid, former Gov.
Mitt Romney (R-Mass.).
Nominating Romney would be a
"huge mistake," he said.
