“I don’t think anyone can deny this guy is openly and brazenly racist and misogynistic and ethnic-centric,” Van Gundy said in a nearly six-minute rant after observing his players’ unusual silence on the team bus Wednesday, according to the Detroit Free Press. “We have just thrown a good part of our population under the bus, and I have problems with thinking that this is where we are as a country.”
Van Gundy voiced the strongest and longest rejection of the president-elect compared to other NBA figures, many of whom tweeted throughout election night in despair over Trump’s stunning win against Hillary Clinton.
"It's embarrassing," Van Gundy said. "I have been ashamed of a lot of things that have happened in this country, but I can't say I've ever been ashamed of our country until today

I stand with Trump
