Super Eagles face Egypt in January
Super Eagles coach
Gernot Rohr has announced a friendly match would be played between the national
team and the Pharoahs of Egypt in January. According to the German, the match
would be played in Dubai, United Arab Emirates in January as the Nigeria
Football Federation (NFF) has struck an understanding with its Egyptian
counterpart.
Speaking to
journalists shortly after the 2018 World Cup qualifier which Nigeria won 3-1
against Algeria in Uyo, ROhr said he might field only home-based players. He
said: “There won’t be lots games to come up next year before our next World Cup
qualifier but I can assure you that we are going to play the Egyptian national
team in January and it is going to take place in Dubai. “The Egyptians are
preparing for the AFCON but we may not be able to have our foreign based
players available for the match so I will have time to look at the home based
players.” In the match against Algeria, Victor Moses opened the scoring with a
solo goal from the left then Mikel Obi added a second from a one on one
position. In the second half, Nabil Bentaleb scored a cracker from almost 35
yards but Victor Moses scored his second and Nigeria’s third when he found
himself free on the left to slot into the net.
